This program is to discover the feminist approach and gender equality activities relevant to the sociocultural context of Myanmar, by critically analyzing the Asian feminist and gender approach in the region of Asia, and to create a regional network of feminists and gender activists in Asian region for better promotion and practice.
There are three chief aims: The program seeks to understand what kind of feminist and gender approach will better suit the socio-cultural context of Myanmar.
Then, it seeks to critically analyze and understand the feminist and gender approaches applied in Asian context where feminist and gender concepts are integrated into Asian values, rather than using Western concept of feminist and gender approaches.
Thirdly, the project seeks to create a regional network of feminist and gender activists in the region of Asia to promote gender equality and mainstream gender feminism by cross-supporting and learning from each other.
This program is being supported by Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Myanmar Office.
